Last November I lost my memory and couldn’t walk, but thanks to Dr. Sridharan I’m feeling like myself again! In fact, except for a little numbness in my right hand, I’m almost back to normal. I can drive and go grocery shopping by myself. That’s a very good feeling.
I’ve been back on my MS medication Tysabri for four months now thanks to Dr. Sridharan. She has been a lifesaver to me. She sees me every month to make sure that I’m doing OK and talks with other doctors about the best care to provide.
I was on a fishing trip in 2006 when I caught a fish. I was reeling it in when I stumbled over a platform in the boat. Don’t worry, I got the fish, but a few days later my right side began to hurt. My family physician ordered blood work and a CT scan that revealed a spot on my brain. They originally thought it was a tumor, but a spinal tap, blood work and an MRI confirmed that it was MS. That was a day I will never forget: Oct. 3, 2006.
After I started on Tysabri I had five and a half good years until the insurance company told me that it was too expensive for me to continue. But Dr. Sridharan and the people at Borgess Medical Center made sure that my insurance would cover the medication.
There was a time a few short months ago when I was told that I might not ever walk again. But thanks to the medication and physical therapy at Three Rivers Health, I regained the ability to walk and have been home since mid-February. My fiancé, Don and I are now hoping to be married next year.
